Specialized Inspections

Rates and prices listed on this page are pre-tax and shop supplies.

Buyer’s Complete Vehicle Inspection (CVI): $145, then $72.50 to inspect other vehicles if the original is not purchased

  • An in-depth, one hour, bumper-to-bumper mechanical inspection package designed to estimate the health of a vehicle, the result of which may be used as a bartering tool in a potential purchase. This inspection does not include diagnostics, though the presence of codes or other obvious issues will be noted.

  • If you choose not to purchase the vehicle as a result of our original Buyer’s CVI, further Buyer’s CVIs on other vehicles under consideration are half price.

SGI Out-of-Province Inspection (SGI Light Vehicle Inspection): $249.99 at minimum (if the vehicle passes the inspection outright)

  • This inspection is evaluative and is mandated by SGI for all vehicles purchased outside and brought into Saskatchewan in order to enforce roadworthiness. Vehicles that fail the inspection are given thirty days by SGI to have the failing items corrected by whichever shop the customer chooses, though the vehicle must return to the original inspecting shop to complete the safety inspection and be certified and registered for Saskatchewan roads. Please see the our SGI Inspections page [link] for more complete inspection information.

Transmission Diagnostics: $195

  • An in-depth inspection of transmission issues that includes test driving, reading codes, searching OEM databases for software updates, resetting shift adapts, bi-directional testing of solenoids, dropping and dredging the transmission pan to inspect the oil and search for metal chunks/filings, then quoting the results and explaining them in detail for your consideration.

Engine Diagnostics: $195

  • An in-depth inspection of engine issues that includes test driving, reading codes, searching OEM databases for software updates and Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs), and inspecting components where necessary, such as checking fluid levels/quality, checking for broken spark plugs, inspecting some internal components, etc. Any discovered issues will be quoted and explained in detail for your consideration.

General Inspections

Rates and prices listed on this page are pre-tax and shop supplies.

Courtesy Preventative Maintenance Inspection: Complementary

  • This inspection is performed at the first appointment with us, and any appointments at which we haven’t seen the vehicle for a few months.

  • A quick check-over of your vehicle’s exterior and undercarriage to give a rough estimate of its health and to help you make informed decisions about repairs. This inspection often leads to a request for others that are more in-depth if a problem area is indicated.

Fluid Leak Inspection: $50.75

  • A twenty minute inspection during which we’ll check your vehicle over for leaks and quote the results, after which you can authorize or deny any repairs as you see fit.

Mechanical Inspections, such as steering and suspension, front or rear end, brake, accessory, driveline, TPMS, cooling/heating system, exhaust, etc.: $68.25

  • A half hour system-specific inspection to root out problem components and quote necessary repairs.

Complete Vehicle Inspection (CVI): $145

  • An in-depth, one hour, bumper-to-bumper mechanical inspection package designed to estimate the health of a vehicle. This inspection does not include diagnostics, though the presence of codes or other obvious issues will be noted.

Warning Light Diagnostics, such as engine light, ABS, stabili-trak, and 4x4 light: $195

  • An in-depth diagnosis of issues in the indicated area that comes with a written quote. Exceedingly simple repairs, such as tightening loose connections may be included in the price of the diagnostic.

AVR Test (Alternator Voltage Regulator): $97.50

  • An inspection to investigate the cause of a vehicle’s starting issues, whether it struggles or fails to start at all. For this we test the battery, starter, and alternator, and search for parasitic draws in the system.

Electrical Diagnostic: starts at $68.25 with the potential to escalate

  • Electrical issues are tricky ones. They can range from a broken wire somewhere in the vehicle, to a glovebox or trunk light that refuses to turn off and kills the battery, which sometimes makes them incredibly difficult to figure out. For that reason, the inspection starts at our half hour inspection price and can escalate from there depending on the issue.

134a Air Conditioning Inspection: $68.25

  • Inspection of 134a air conditioning systems, which are older model AC systems. This inspection can result in quoting a recharge and dye, a part replacement, or both depending on severity. Systems without an apparent faulty part will be recharged with refrigerant and have a dye added to identify the problem area under UV light the next time the AC stops blowing cold air, at which point the problem will be re-inspected at no charge.

1234yf Air Conditioning Inspection: $97.50

  • Inspection of 1234yf air conditioning systems, which are newer model AC systems.
